Day 4 - 3rd December
Day 4 started once again with a very early wake up at
around 5am for most of the boys. The "light training" on game day was
unusual but with limited time for preparation prior, and new combinations set
to play together, different line-out structures, patterns of play and key moves
needed to be rehearsed. Ryan Longville needs a mention for soldiering through
the training although almost crying in every drill. After training we had free time.
The whole squad went shopping at Hakata station to relax before our game. We arrived back at the
school for lunch and attended a calligraphy lesson, then prepared for our game. The game conditions were
terrible, playing in about 5 degrees Celsius, a howling wind combined with
driving rain for most of the game, was most unpleasant. Overall the game went
well with the end score being 35-5. Special mention goes to man of the match
Paddy Venables for crossing the paint and scoring his first try for Trinity. After
the game we departed with our billets for another night of homestay.
